L3172. On 24th April 1957, Ian Allen Publishing ran a 'Trains Illustrated' special from Paddington to Doncaster, returning over the London Extension to Marylebone. The locomotives used were A4 60029 - WOODCOCK and two Thompson B1 class 4-6-0's - this one being 61272. It is seen at Nottingham Victoria in the late evening before heading off to Leicester. The train's headboard has still to be fitted to the front of the smokebox. Note the Upper Quadrant signal on the platform.
