View along the permanent way near Ashendon, Buckinghamshire.

L3294. A view along the newly laid tracks near Ashendon on the Great Western & Great Central Joint line. The line on the left appears to be heavily packed, and the rail surfaces show no signs of wear. The line on the right, however, is not so heavily ballasted, and the rail heads have a shine on them which implies usage. This could be just a well laid contractors' line. Note the man standing in the distance.
