Navvy camp by Brackley viaduct

Navvy camp by Brackley viaduct

L2897. These buildings formed part of the temporary accommodation that was erected by Walter Scott & Co. to house the navvies at work on Contract No.5 of the Last Main Line (Woodford to Brackley). A contractor's yard is visible between the huts. Standing in the background as a testament to the navvies' labour is the huge twenty two arch viaduct that brought the London Extension across the Great Ouse river and flood plain.
