Unloading ballast at Charwelton station yard

L2767. An interesting scene captured around 1898 at Charwelton station yard and contractor's depot, Northamptonshire. These men are unloading ballast from mineral wagons into horse drawn carts. This shale would then be packed over the sleepers of the permanent way.
