North end of Sherwood Rise tunnel

North end of Sherwood Rise tunnel

L2758. A line of empty tipping wagons waits on the temporary rails in the steep rock cutting by the northern portal of Sherwood Rise tunnel. The completed tunnel was 662 yards (605 metres) long, and travelling passengers would emerge from the southern portal into the short cutting that was home to Carrington Station.
