Station construction at Akeman Street, Buckinghamshire

L2515. This photograph is thought to have been taken during construction of the Great Central's Akeman Street Station in Buckinghamshire. The station lay on the short stretch of line that left the London Extension at Grendon Underwood to meet up with the Great Western Railway at Ashendon Junction, from where the two companies ran their Joint Line service into the capital. Certainly not of typical Great Central design, this station was opened for public use in 1906.
