Pilot heading for a tunnel near Saunderton

L2444. Thought to have been photographed near Saunderton, this is a pilot heading for a tunnel on the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line. Built by Mackay & Davies of Cardiff between 1901-1905, this section of the Joint Line ran from High Wycombe to Princes Risborough. Note the timber props on the right of the picture that would be used to support the walls and roof of the tunnel.
