Retaining wall and ground frame at High Wycombe

Retaining wall and ground frame at High Wycombe

L2404. A gang of navvies work on a large brick retaining wall at the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line station at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. These men would most likely have worked for Mackay & Davies of Cardiff, the firm contracted to build this section of the Joint Line (High Wycombe to Princes Risborough). Note the small ground frame hut: these were used to operate connections that were infrequently used and remote from a larger signal box.
