Bridge 425 near Lutterworth

Bridge 425 near Lutterworth

L1945. Bridge 425 was a brick arch bridge carrying the London Extension over the meandering River Swift near Lutterworth in Leicestershire. The bridge was almost tunnel-like in appearance and the river had to be channelled like a canal in order to clear the embankment above. This June 1977 view shows the bridge, looking west.
