L1734. North portal of Mansfield Road tunnel, Nottingham, circa 1897. Carrington Station was later built on the small piece of land which lay between this tunnel entrance, and the southern portal of Sherwood Rise tunnel. Logan & Hemingway was the contractor appointed to build this section of the Last Main Line (Contract No.1, Annesley to Leake).
