L2901. A plate girder bridge under construction near Godington, Oxfordshire. The picture is a fine opportunity to observe the structure's brick vaulting that would soon be buried beneath the trackbed. Behind the navvy at work on the rough slopes of the embankment, there is a line of contractor's temporary railway: this would have been used to bring up the men and materials required for the bridge's construction.
