L1611. 'First occupation bridge from Nottingham Road bridge, Loughborough Meadows', Leicestershire (S.W.A. Newton's notes). This imposing structure was one of the London Extension's many occupation bridges, built to provide farmers with access to their land, or to accommodate an existing right of way. Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton was the contractor responsible for constructing this section of the Railway (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
