Cutting the first sod on the Aylesbury extension

Back to 1890   Back to Timeline

L2586. An excellent photograph taken in 1890 at the cutting of the first sod of the Metropolitan Railway's Aylesbury extension. Having reached Aylesbury in 1892, this line would later provide the Great Central's original route into the capital when their London Extension opened in 1899.
