Back to 1895   Back to Timeline

L2561. This Metropolitan Railway six-car passenger train is being hauled by the 4-4-0T A-Class locomotive No. 18. Built by Beyer Peacock & Co. of Manchester (works no. 429) in 1864, this engine was in the first of six batches of A-Class locos supplied to the Metropolitan. Note the destination sign on the front of the engine: it tells us that this service is heading for Neasden.
