T1926. A number of companies sent formal bids to Stretford Council for decorating the route which fell within the boundaries of Stretford for the visit of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, who came to open No.9 Dock in 1905. Womersley was one such company. They were Main Agents, having carried out work abroad, whilst a company in Manchester, Messrs Goodall, Lamb & Heighway acted as their Local Agents. The Council were not happy with the work carried out to decorate the Processional Route and Mr Abrahams had written to them on behalf of the Council expressing their disappointment with the floral arch. After having written to them on the 14th July there was a meeting and the following decision was taken: ROYAL VISIT SUB-COMMITTEE. ---------------------------------- At a meeting of this Sub-Committee held at the Council Offices, Talbot Road, Old Trafford, on Tuesday the 22nd day of August, 1905. It was RESOLVED: That the account be settled by the payment of £80. | |
