Letter From Mr Abrahams to Messrs Binyon & Robinsons, Ltd.,

T1867. The visit of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1905 to open the new No. 9 Dock required a great deal of preparation and planning. To mark the occasion, It was decided that the older people of Stretford should have either a presentation tin of tea, for the women, or tobacco, for the men. Mr Abrahams had written to Messers Binyon & Robinsons asking about the price of presentation tins of tea for the elderly women of Stretford. After receiving a sample of the tea the Council placed an order with them:

Dear Sir,

Please prepare 150 half pound tins of tea, as per
sample submitted, at the price of one shilling per tin. Before
the tins are finally made up we desire to insert a card suitably
inscribed, which will be supplied to you soon as we get same
from printers, probably on Monday week. I presume this will
be in time. A further order may be necessary.

Yours faithfully,
