T1848. The visit of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1905 to open the new No. 9 Dock required a great deal of preparation and planning. The Council wanted everyone to benefit from the occasion, with local children receiving a handkerchief and a tin of chocolates. The older people of Stretford did not miss out either, apart from being allotted a place on one of the stands along the processional route, it was decided to give them a presentation tin of either tea, for the women, or tobacco, for the men. Binyons Robinsons Ltd wrote the following letter in order to have an order for the tea to be placed with them:

Binyons Robinson Ltd
herewith enclosed a sample
half pound tin of tea,
price per tin 1/- each should
you favour us with your esteemed
order we shall be glad to know
as early as possible also the
number required so that we may
put the tins on one side & save
disappointment

Across the bottom of the letter the following has been written Ordered 4-7-05
