| T1196. Daniel Adamson was instrumental in the success of the Manchester Ship Canal project. A meeting at his house in Didsbury in 1882 was the spark for the implementation of plans for the waterway, which had been raised at various times before with no result. Adamson, who ran an engineering business in Dukinfield, became Chairman of the Manchester Ship Canal Company, and guided the Project in its early stages. | |
