L3114. This colour postcard depicts the Blackfriars tessellated Roman pavement, originally discovered in 1832 and later housed for eighty years in the purpose built mosaic chamber beneath Leicester's Great Central Station. The irregular white shape at the bottom of the card is not the result of damage, but rather the card's accurate illustration of a part of the mosaic which did not survive.
