G2490. In the late 1950's the Bristol Helicopter division were engaged in designing many new projects, the 192C, a large bodied military version the 192D and a still larger civil design, the one depicted here, the Type 194. This would have a fixed wing amidships, to offload the rotors during cruise and be powered by four D.H. Gnome turbines in pairs, driving two six bladed rotors designed to reduce vibration at high forward speeds.
