G2382. This dramatic photograph shows the moment of impact when the second Bristol Type 173 twin rotor helicopter (XH379, formerly G-AMJI) crashed during an Air Day at Filton on 16th September 1956. The helicopter was in the transition from the hover to forward flight when the nose struck the ground. The two crew, 'Sox' Hosegood and John Daniels walked away from the crash unhurt, but the helicopter was written off.
