G1985. In 1960 the idea of vertical takeoff was becoming a reality with the P1127 project which evolved into the harrier. At Filton there was a tradition of expansion into other fields, the factory had produced pre-fabricated houses and schools, buses and of course the well known 'Bristol' cars. The design teams produced a range of vehicles which were termed 'Flying military vehicles' . these vehicles could be used a forward fighting vehicles to cover any sort of terrain to support fighting troops and of course VTOL aircraft.
